Yoshihide Shimamura created a China VC fund together with Wuhan city government while working at Daiwa Securities. He also founded a Vietnam-focused VC fund together with Saigon Securities, the leading securities broker in Vietnam.

Since 2006 Mr Shimamura began covering Southeast Asia, with a particular focus on Vietnam. In 2010 he relocated to the region with a view to building strategic partnerships with governments, business owners, financial institutions, securities brokers and fund managers.
